September 9th - 13th

Ms. Gonzalez's Class News for September 9th- 13th

Literacy-
SWBAT:
  • learn 8 amazing vocabulary words: investigate, rural, urban, downy, perch, founders, muttered and unanimous.
  • distinguishing medial phonemes
  • review short vowels and consonants
  • learn 6 high frequency words: beautiful, country, friend, front, someone, somewhere.
  • determine character and setting in a story.
  • write a personal narrative.
  • review syllable patterns VC/CV and VCC/V
  • review selection vocabulary: cousins, meadow, parents, promise.
  • determine the plot of “The Twin Club”

Handwriting-
SWBAT:

  • correctly form the letter c.
  • review correctly write A,a,B,b,C and c.
Religion:
    • The Fall of Adam and Eve
    • The Effects of Sin
    • Attend Mass
    • Review of Chapter 5- God is Offended
    • Introduction to Chapter 6- Becoming a Child of God

  • Continue to build stamina for First Friday adoration.

Math-
SWBAT:
  • Topic 2.3- master addition facts where the addends are one part
  • Topic 2.4- use the communitive property to find sums.
  • Topic 2.5- find the sum of three addends using any order.
  • Topic 2.6- find sums by making 10 when adding
  • Topic 2.7- draw a picture and write a number sentence to solve a story problem.

Social Studies/ Science-
SWBAT:
  • read a map by using a compass rose and legend as well as understanding a map grid.
  • understand the motion of Earth in relation to the sun.
  • understand that most things are in the process of change and that there are patterns to these changes.
  • recognize how our daily activities are affected by the weather.

Spelling-
SWBAT:
  • spell the words: rock, list, desk, job, sad, chop, sack, tag, rib, mess, dust, drum.

Reminders:

Wednesday Mass at 1:45pm.

Back to School Night- Thursday Sept. 12th at 5pm, meet in the gym for dinner. Presentations will be held in classrooms from 5:30-6:00 and from 6:00-6:30 after there will be an HSA presentation until 7:15pm.
