September 3rd-6th

Ms. Gonzalez's Class News for September 3rd- 6th

Literacy:
  • Continue to build stamina in writing
  • Coninue reading Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle
  • Properly punctuate sentences.
  • Use precise nouns in our writing. (ex. The room in your house has new cabinets. vs. The kitchen in your house has new cabinets.)
  • Use vivid verbs in our writing. (ex. The horse runs. vs. The horse gallops.)
  • Use active adjectives in our writing. (ex. She sat under a tree. vs. She sat under a leafy tree.)
  • Create and illustrate silly sentences that use adjectives, verbs and nouns.
Handwriting:
  • Lowercase b
  • Capital C
  • lowercase c
Religion:
    • Order of Creation
    • God created the Angels
      • The Fall of Angels
    • The test and fall of Adam and Eve


  • Continue to build stamina for First Friday adoration.

Math:

  • Assessment of student’s understanding of the concepts and skills in Topic 1.
  • Introduction to Topic 2- Addition Strategies
  • Topic 2, lesson 1: Adding 0,1,2
  • Topic 2, lesson 2: Adding doubles
Social Studies/ Science:
  • Continue our geography unit.
  • Students will also be able to locate themselves, their community, their state, their country, their continent and their planet on a map.
  • Students will be able to identify that a map is a representation of a place and understand that a map is not the same as a picture, that it uses symbols.
  • Students will identify the Equator, Poles and Hemispheres.
  • Students will be able to identify different geographical features, including: coast, valley, prairie, desert, oasis, harbor, bay and island.

Reminders:

I hope you had a wonderful five day weekend! I learned all about the sacraments at the Aquinas Catechetical Institute!

Wednesday Mass at 1:45pm. Remember to wear mass uniforms.

Thursday is PE, please remember gym shoes.

Grandparents day on Friday Sept. 6th there is also noon dismissal from classrooms that day.

Math homework will be graded this week online. Please read the previous blog about the Envision Math.
