September 16th-20th

Ms. Gonzalez's Class News for September 16th- 20th
Literacy-
SWBAT:
  • build words with short vowels
  • practice fluency using story passage
  • read The Twin Club (2nd read) to build comprehension
  • think critically about main selection, The Twin Club
  • write a personal narrative based on a place they have visited
  • Review VC/CV and VCC/V words
  • read words in isolation
  • read words in context
  • read The 1st day of school and review poetry
  • read at an appropriate rate
  • correctly identify a sentence
  • revise a draft of my personal narrative
  • review amazing words: investigate, rural, urban, downy, perch, founders, muttered, unanimous
  • review short vowels and consonants
  • practice putting words into alphabetical order
  • understand why we speak and listen
  • review characters and setting and apply them to a story
  • review high frequency and selection words- someone, somewhere, beautiful, country, front, friend, cousins, meadow, promise, and parents
  • review poetry
  • review sentences
  • proofread for sentences

Handwriting-
SWBAT:
  • correctly form the letter D, d and E

Religion:
SWBAT:
    • review that Adam and Eve lost grace and the ability to go to Heaven by their sin
    • Adam and Eve are our first parents and Original Sin is passed onto all man
    • understand that Baptism washes away Original Sin and infuses the soul with grace
    • understand that Baptism makes it possible for us to go to Heaven because we receive grace
    • understand their responsibilites as baptized children of God
    • know that they must try to keep their souls free from sin and filled with grace, so they may go to Heaven
    • pray a decade of the rosary
Math-
SWBAT:
  • review adding doubles, near doubles, making 10 and adding three numbers
  • show what I know from topic 2
  • listen to a math story
  • identify subtraction in the story
  • subtract 0, 1, and 2 from a number by applying the concepts of 0-less than, 1-less than and 2-less than

Social Studies/ Science-
SWBAT:
  • understand the motion of Earth in relation to the sun.
  • understand that most things are in the process of change and that there are patterns to these changes.
  • recognize how our daily activites are affected by the weather.


Spelling-
SWBAT:
  • spell the words: block, pit, sum, fist, sit, disk, miss, clock, glad, bag, crust, drop
